I
travelled to the gig in the back of an old van (no seats in the back) with the
South
Wales Punk Band Field-Marshall
Slug. We were allowed in through
the back doors of the New Ocean Club
to watch The
Damned do their pre-
gig sound check. The band seemed happy for me to take
photos while they
practised on stage but their manager got a bit stroppy, saying he wasn't happy
with me taking pictures
of the band who were not dressed in
their proper stage
gear. Maybe he didn't have a very good grasp
of Punk ethics.
The
lads from Field-Marshall Slug interviewed The Damned who were very
obliging and answered all
of their questions, while I got a few more photos of
them relaxing. We stayed
for the evening gig
which was excellent - loud and
energetic as a good Punk Gig should be.
