To the memory of my father, George Henry Tyrell. An upright man, 

a formidable tuba player and one who was convinced that somebody 

somewhere knew how breathing techniques could enhance the quality 

of life.

To my boyhood friend, long gone, George Morrison who for too short a 

while shared with me an awestruck wonder at the universal vista and the 

crazy desire to know "What it was all about".

To Steve, Stephen Greaves my collaborator and illustrator of this homily. 

His painstakingly studious approach to all aspects of the Way traditional 

and otherwise evokes my sincere admiration and the wealth of scholarship 

he has pocketed in a few short years has ensured that apart from a bit of 

intuitional jazz here and there the text does not wander too far from the 

well practiced themes.

Truth to tell. I wrote it for Steve and am delighted to have him putting his 

artistic talents to the service of Dharma. May he long ride the tiger of 

disillusionment through the thickets of conditioned mind.
