An acrylic marine painting of Whitby harbour on the North 

East coast of England at low tide with moored boats.

The viewpoint is from the beach in the harbour showing a 

couple of yachts. Birds such as Swans, Cormorants and 

Oystercatchers are common and seals are often seen bobbing

around in the water.

The scene is painted in a kind of impressionist style with little 

attention paid to fine detail. Individual brush-marks can be seen 

and the texture of the roughly painted gesso ground shows 

through the paint.
