A semi-abstract acrylic landscape painting depicting

countryside close to where I live in Darfield, South Yorkshire.

The paint was applied quite thickly and dryly with a coarse

brush to emphasise the spiky quality of the gorse bushes.

Behind the gorse shrubs and down the hill lies the old pit

pond, a haven for local waterbirds. Herons often gather in

the sloping fields visible in the background.
