An Oil Painting of an old disused Railway Shed in

Carmarthen, South Wales inspired by the ideas and

artwork of popular American realist painter Andrew Wyeth.

Trains ceased to run on this line some years ago.

The rail track seems to lead to an unspecified point

in the distance, and the off-balance composition with

eerie shadows give a slight quality of uneasiness.

The half-open door adds to the sense of mystery.

Just to the right of the shed and out of view is Les's Gym

where I used to do bodybuilding weight training.

Also, just up the road is where Merlin's Oak used to stand.

Legend has it that Merlin the Magician, advisor to King Arthur,

sleeps inside Merlin's Hill just outside Carmarthen.

Here are some books about Carmarthen:

Merlin Awakes was written and illustrated

by my old college friend Graham Howells.
